LED Light Bulbs:

Everyone should be well aware of the dangers of Mercury and the effects it has on the body. If not, start by watching this short video about Mercury's effects on the Brain cells.

Exposure to mercury should be reduced to a minimum, hence the great debate about the banning of the Mercury amalgams in dentistry work, with Australia being the only country asking for an exemption; the continuous opposition of vaccination using Thimerosal as a preservative; but more recently the focus has come to Energy Saver Light Bulbs.

In the past fluorescent light tubes in offices were of a concern but yet limited to the common house usage, providing the great economical savings to businesses, regardless of the potential exposure to mercury. Today, we all have been told the right thing to do for home, was to replace the old lights bulbs by the new energy saver light bulbs, which lot of them were given free by the Australian government.

Well the reality is now starting to sink that the energy saving light bulbs do actually contain mercury gas in them and this is potentially bad news.

So what is the big deal about it?

In the perfect world, the energy saver light bulbs will last for the amount of hours they are meant to without exploding.

With a basic understanding of physics and life experiences, it is very easy to question the constant exposure to temperature changes, from cold to hot, weakening in a given time any material, iron or glass, making these materials more porous, so any gas could eventually at a very low rate leak out. There lies a problem, there are now many reports of the energy saver light bulbs exploding and creating a lot of health concerns, not even taking any consideration of potential leakage of the mercury over time, potentially having a slow poisoning effect, which of course may be very difficult to link back to any chronic health issues. There are some reported effects to consider (Mercury dangers) or a more recent article from 2008 (An energy saving bulb has gone - evacuate the room now!).

The reality is that things are not always working out the way they have been planed, to remind us of it, Chernobyl or even more recently in Japan after the tsunami and another nuclear reactor melt down.

Your choice is to decide if you are willing to take the chances for your family and yourself. You can still save on energy cost and "caring" for the financial environment.

By using LED LIGHT BULBS, which are not filled with Mercury, you are still able to enjoy the very low energy consumption and results you are seeking, but there is one draw back - THE COST - One light bulb can cost you anywhere around the $30 - $60, which is a lot when you are looking at replacing all the energy saver light bulbs in your house.

Unfortunately, there are no free lunches in life and if you are looking after your health it will cost you to invest in it and the pay-off will only take place 20 or more years later.

Start to consider changing to LED LIGHT BULBS today.
